Pinot Noir Toothpaste
Maybe I’ve been drinking too much. Maybe I really needed a drink. But one evening while brushing my teeth, I seriously tasted Pinot Noir in my toothpaste. Perhaps subconsciously, the spearmint flavour had brought back a dozen memories of past wines. I went to bed, convincing myself to stop obsessing about wine, and chuckled at the fantasy of a Pinot Noir toothpaste.
Last week, at a...

Three simple steps to enjoying oysters and sauvignon blanc:
1. Carefully let the oyster slide from the shell into your mouth;
2. Pour a little sauvignon blanc into the glistening oyster shell;
3. Slurp...

The overall presentation had failed to impress any of us. We decided to give this particular wine style a chance for redemption. A different Ripasso was found with a similar price tag but from a more reputable wine shop, and so, we...

A Chance Encounter
What would be the textbook answer to the ideal food pairing with a bottle of Gigondas? A wine from Southern Rhone with a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, would naturally conjure up images of braised beef or rustic stews. Last week, we had to rush to a family dinner, I quickly grabbed any bottle within reach, and chance had it be a bottle of 2006 Gigondas.
Once we opened the wine at a Chiu...
